How a Deep Fryer Works

Different deep fryers work in different ways, it’s important to read the instruction of the fryer with care.

You will also need to have the correct oil to cook with, because different oils need different cooking times and the results vary with the oil you use.

Pour the oil into the deep fryer, pay attention to the max filling line and the minimum line, You will need enough oil to make sure the food is immersed but do not fill it right up because your food will take up some capacity.

If the oil is too hot, the food seems to be cooked well outside but still partially raw inside. If the oil is not hot enough, the food would not crisp enough.

There will be a temperature control (either a button or a knob) on the deep fryer. Some fryers indicate when the oil has reached the right temperature. If there is no light indicator, you’d better check it with a thermostat or crustless white bread. It’s the right temperature for deep-frying, If it turns golden brown.

Put the food into the fryer, using a slotted spoon if there is no basket in the fryer. Do not put too much food in at one time, because this will lead to the unevenly cooked food.

As to the frozen food, try to brush off as many ice crystals as you can because they can cause spattering of oil when come into contact with the hot oil. Close the deep fryer with the lid while the food cooks. Remove the cooked food with the basket or slotted spoon. Drain the excess grease on paper towels.
